Frequently Asked Questions
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
1327 Chestnut St, Suite 6 @ Van Ness, San Francisco, CA 94123
Near Fort Mason in the Marina District

HOW CAN I GET THERE?
Please allow at least 10 minutes to find parking on weekdays and at least 20 minutes on Saturdays. Please allow time for traffic. There is 2-hour street parking within a block of the suite and it is free on Saturdays. For your first appointment you might opt for public transportation or a ride service. Public bike racks are installed in front as well.

WHAT DAYS DO YOU WORK?
I am in the salon Wednesdays - Saturdays. I take new clients Wednesday - Fridays. I do not work on Sundays.
My business/office hours are Monday - Saturday, 8AM-7PM.

HOW CAN I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
Please fill out this Questionnaire and email it to me. You will be contacted by email or phone to make an appointment.

DO YOU TAKE MEN, CHILDREN AND VARYING GENDERS?
I do accept men, children and support all LGBTQIA2S+ people. Prices are all the same.

DO YOU DO ALL CURL TYPES?
Yes, I do wavy, curly and naturals. I specialize in integration of or working with multi-textural hair within one head. Often people with curly hair struggle because one section is straight and another in tight ringlets.

WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES?
I believe in full transparency. For returning clients, a dry cut (without the cleanse and dry) is $150 (flat fee-gratuity included).

New Client prices are $340 (flat fee-gratuity included) and approximately 2.5 hours long.

WHY DO YOU INCLUDE THE TIP?
I found that tipping was always awkward for my clients. They never knew what was appropriate, sometimes they would ask me and it also took time at the end of the service. With the gratuity built in, it is an extremely clear way to conduct business and I am seen as the professional that I am. My clients say they love it.

WHY SHOULD I GO TO YOU?
I am precise, focused and detail-oriented. I do not start to cut your hair until we are in agreement on how much I will take off, what the length will be and what the style will look like on your hair texture and curl type. Your satisfaction and joy is what I thrive on. Because I have had several decades of experience as a stylist, I am finely tuned into your needs in this culture with curly hair.

You should also go to me if you prefer a calming one-on-one environment. The colors are subdued and the music is in the background.

HOW DO I WEAR MY HAIR WHEN I SEE YOU?
-
Please no tangles because I don't use a comb just fingers
-
Please finger detangle hair right before you enter suite door
-
Use your regular products but make sure all of your hair is untangled
-
Please come with hair dry, down and curly
-
Please have your hair washed within a day
-
Please do not use pony tails, half ups, clips or bobby pins

DO I HAVE TO BUY YOUR PRODUCTS WHEN I HAVE MY OWN?
I use and promote 100% organic plant-based, safe, and small-batched products with owners I personally know and respect. I carry Innersense Organic Beauty and Original Moxie. My values and ethics are aligned with sustainable businesses. You do not have to buy from me but it does support a female-owned small business. You also might not have the results that I achieve since these products are specifically picked out for your hair texture.

My prices are generally lower than a small beauty store. If you do like a product I used on you, you can also directly order through my Curl Shop.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED MY HAIR CUT?
I recommend having your next haircut every 3 - 4 months. Straight and curly hair both grow approximately 6 inches per year. The difference is the curlier the hair, the less that length shows. It really depends on the length of your hair, how damaged it is and how much volume (fullness) you have and like to achieve. At your appointment, I will be able to determine the best interval for your haircuts.

HOW CAN I MAKE A SECOND APPOINTMENT?
Booking your next appointment on Schedulicity, my online system, is easy and there is no waiting this time! You will already have a profile set up so we can book you right after your first haircut or you can do it later. Book at your own convenience on a browser or if you have a phone or tablet/iPad, it's easier to use Schedulicity's app.
Simply go to this site, click on Appointments in the menu bar, then click on the button that reads Returning Clients, Then a calendar with dates and times will open up for you to choose.
ARE YOU STILL WEARING MASKS DURING APPOINTMENTS FOR COVID-19?
Yes, as of 12/2024, I am still wearing a mask in the salon suite and require clients to wear one too. Thank you for your understanding. For your information, I have had all vaccines (7) against Covid-19..

CAN YOU COLOR MY HAIR TOO?
I use a new color line by Innersense Organic Beauty, called Color Purity. It pushes the boundaries of clean beauty, nurturing and reviving hair while prioritizing your well-being. Every product is free of ammonia, PPD, PTD, and resorcinol and leaves the hair in excellent condition. Color Purity is also vegan and cruelty-free.
The first appointment. is reserved for meeting you and a haircut. A color consultation can take place then and a future appointment for color.
